There are 19 creeks and rivers in the municipality of which all will go to the Lake Mainit. Among these rivers and creeks are stated below;

Soil Type

There are three types of soil in the locality namely ; the bolinao silt loam , clay loam and mountain soil. Clay loam usually found along the Lake   Mainit and mountain soil on the upland .





Geology

Kitcharao has a geologic composition of lower – middle Miocene and Chetaceous – pallocene .It has a pattern that denotes limestone bodies and bed rocks formation in the mountainous areas .Aquifer identified are located  everywhere in the municipality .Major geologic structures like fault line , folds and other are not found in the  municipality except for minor geologic structure .





Topography

The whole areas of the municipality are subjected to six slope categories .Category A has a slope 0-3 % with an area of 1624.86 hectares , category B with slope 3-8 %  has 235.764 hectares; category C with 8-18 % slope having an area of 2,886.18 hectares ;   category D of 30-50 % slope with 5,460.804 hectares , and category E with a gradient of  50 % and above with an area of 5,571.252 hectares .





Climate Type

The LGU has a type II climate , generally no pronounce dry and wet season but as experienced dry season usually occur on the month of March and April while rainy season on the month of November to February .





Demography

The Municipality has a total population of 17,911 that comprises to 8,890   males and 9,021 females .It has a total household of 3249. Urban population is only 7,587 while the   rural population reached to 10,325 .Its total  working force ages from 15 to 60 years old reach to 65% . (see table 1)

Kitcharao has a total land area of 21,240.17 hectares with its land classification of 3,182.69 alienable and disposable land and timber land of 18,057.48 hectares .Timber lands    are classified into production having an area of 14,188.56 hectares and protection with an  area of 3,868.92 hectares.
